Privacy Policy

The POD Builder makes videos — video podcasts first, and also films for a business, freestyle films and films based on a reference video — and lets you download them. It connects to no social network account and puts nothing online for you: you download your films and decide what to do with them. This page explains what we hold, why, and what you can ask us to do about it.
Who we are
The POD Builder is operated from the European Union. For questions about your data, write to privacy@thepodbuilder.com.
What we hold about you
The beta waitlist. If you join the waitlist on this site: your name, your email address, what you want to make, your language, and, if you give them, your business's name and a few words about your project; the date you agreed to be contacted about the beta; and our notes on whether you were selected.
Your account. Your email address, and the password hash our authentication provider stores. We never see your password.
Your workspace. Its name, its members and their roles, and the email addresses of the people you invite to it.
What you tell us about your business. The about cards you fill in and the documents you upload to your knowledge base. This is the material the co-director draws on when it helps you write a film.
People and products. The photos you add of people and products, the names you give them, and the record of each person's consent (who confirmed it, and when). For voices: the recordings you upload to clone a voice, with the record of that person's consent; the description of a voice you design; and the library voices you choose.
Your films. Your conversations with the co-director, scripts, storyboards, stills, clips, voices and music, the edit you make in the last step, Edit & download, and the exports you render.
Reference videos. When you make a film from a video, the video you give us and what is read from it.
Your media library. The pictures and files you upload to use in your films.
What you dictate. When you speak to the co-director instead of typing, your browser's own speech recognition turns your voice into text where it offers one — in Chrome that is Google's service, in Safari Apple's — under their terms, not ours. Where the browser has none, your recording is sent to us, turned into text by one of the model providers listed below, and deleted once it has been read: only the words you then send are kept, as part of the conversation.
Usage and billing records. Which automated steps ran for your workspace, when, how long they took and what they cost in credits; your credit purchases and your subscription's status. Your card details are handled by Whop and never reach us.
Faces and voices
A real person's photo is sent to an image or video model only after someone in your workspace has confirmed that this person agreed to it, and we record that confirmation. A voice is cloned only after the same confirmation for that voice. The POD Builder never puts a person who has not consented into a film, including by swapping them into a reference video.
You must have the right to use every face and every voice you upload. A person who has agreed can withdraw: remove them from your workspace, or ask us to.
People in reference videos
A reference video may show people other than you. They are analysed as text — what happens, how the shot is framed, how people move — so that your film can follow its structure. Stills of them are deleted when you approve your storyboard, or after 14 days if you do not.
How The POD Builder uses artificial intelligence
To make your film, what you give us — your business information and documents, your conversations with the co-director, your scripts, and the photos and voices of the people and products in the film — is sent to models that write, draw, film, speak and lip-sync. The names you give people are not sent to the models: a model is told a person's role in the film, such as the host or the guest.
Every request goes through a gateway we run ourselves, so we control what is sent. Each provider processes it under its API terms, which may allow it to keep requests for a short time to detect abuse.
Who processes your data for us
- Supabase: database, sign-in and file storage, hosted in the European Union.
- fal: video models.
- Google: a video model.
- OpenAI and xAI: images.
- Anthropic: text.
- ElevenLabs: voices.
- Sync: lip-sync.
- Whop: payments and subscriptions.
- Resend: email.
Some of these companies are based in the United States. Where your data leaves the European Union, it does so under the safeguards the GDPR provides for such transfers.
Where your data lives
In a Supabase database hosted in the European Union, and on a server we operate in the European Union. Files you upload are held in the same region.
How long we keep it
Your workspace data is kept while your workspace exists, with these exceptions:
- Exports can be downloaded for 30 days, then they expire. The film
stays, and can be exported again.
- Takes you did not use are deleted 60 days after the film is finished.
- A reference video is deleted with its film.
- Stills of other people in a reference video are deleted at storyboard
approval, or after 14 days.
- Diagnostic details of automated runs are cleared after 30 days, and the
usage records themselves deleted after 180 days.
Delete your workspace and everything tied to it is deleted with it. The page Deleting your data (thepodbuilder.com/en/data-deletion) explains every option.
The beta waitlist is kept at most 12 months after you join it, then deleted. Write to us and we remove you sooner.
Cookies
The POD Builder sets only cookies it needs to work.
Staying signed in. Once you have an account, standard session cookies keep you signed in as you move around The POD Builder.
Your display choices. Your theme (dark or light), your layout and your language are kept in cookies so The POD Builder opens the way you left it.
Visit statistics, without cookies. This website (thepodbuilder.com) counts its visits with HubOpus Analytics, which runs on our own server in the European Union. It sets no cookie. It keeps a random visit number in your browser tab's session storage, deleted when you close the tab, and counts the pages you open, the site you came from, your screen width, how far you scroll, which parts of the page and which buttons you reach, and which form fields you reach — their names, never what you type. It does not follow you to other websites, and it does not run at all if your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control. To turn it off in this browser, open [thepodbuilder.com/en#hubopus-optout](https://thepodbuilder.com/en#hubopus-optout): your choice is kept in your browser's local storage.
We use nothing else. No advertising, no tag manager, no social pixel and no other tracking script. Dismissing the notice at the bottom of the page is remembered in your browser's local storage, not in a cookie.
The cookies above are strictly necessary for a service you have asked for, and the visit statistics are limited to measuring this site's own audience, so European law does not require us to ask your permission for them — but it does require us to tell you, which is what this section and that notice do. If we ever add anything that needs a cookie or follows you to other sites, we will ask you first and it will be off until you say yes.
Why we are allowed to use it
We use your data to provide the service you signed up for, under our contract with you. We use the beta waitlist to choose who joins the beta and to write to you about it, and only for that, on the basis of your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by writing to privacy@thepodbuilder.com. We keep billing records because the law requires it. Before a person's face or voice is used, their consent is recorded.
What we do not do
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use one customer's material to improve another customer's results — what you give The POD Builder stays inside your workspace.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask us to restrict how we use it, or object to our using it. Write to privacy@thepodbuilder.com and we will answer within 30 days. You may also complain to your national data protection authority.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you before it takes effect.
